Maccioni

Paola Maccioni (Cagliari, 1980) lives and works in Veneto. A self-taught artist, since 2019 she has focused her research on aluminum: thin sheets worked with round-point chasing tools, without hammer or punches, in a negative chasing process based on controlled pressure.

The method is slow and calibrated intervention: the gesture does not add matter but pushes it from within, generating volume through the tension of the plane. The surface becomes a dynamic field in which minimal pressure variations modify form, depth, and the perception of light.

«Gesture does not add matter: it pushes it from within.»

The practice reinterprets traditional chasing in contemporary terms, shifting attention from ornament to formal construction. It explores the relationship between fragility and resistance, control and transformation, plane and volume.
