Rondini in gabbia

Inside the cage a swallow is perched on the perch, while another is in the nest with two young. The door is open, but an ivy branch weaves between the bars and slowly seems to close the doorway.

Made of embossed and chiselled aluminium, the work constructs an essential scene where each element takes on a symbolic value. The swallows, traditionally associated with travel and return, are here in a space suspended between protection and limit.

The ivy growing on the door introduces time into the scene: freedom exists, but can vanish if it is not grasped.
