Boes

The work takes up the traditional mask of the Boes, a symbolic figure of the Sardinian carnival of Boes and Merdules. The taurine face, with its long curved horns, recalls the primordial strength of the animal and the deep connection with the pastoral world.

Made of embossed and chiselled aluminium, the metal surface constructs the shape of the mask through incised lines, reliefs and openings that define the gaze and the essential features of the face.

Through metal, the popular tradition is reinterpreted in a contemporary key, keeping the symbolic power of this ancient ritual figure intact.
