This work stems from a reinterpretation of Albrecht Dürer's famous Rhinoceros (1515), one of the most famous images in the history of Western art. The figure of the animal is taken up and translated into a three-dimensional surface through the embossing of aluminium.
As in the original engraving, the body of the rhinoceros appears almost as an armour composed of elements and textures that define its structure.
A personal intervention is added to this historical image: three buffalos, African birds that live in symbiosis with large mammals, perch on the animal's back, introducing a natural element that was not present in Dürer's work.
