In Catene Spezzate the composition develops as a progressive transformation. A metal chain, a symbol of constraint and constriction, breaks off and allows a sequence of shapes to emerge that gradually transform into birds in flight.
The material of aluminium accompanies this transition: from a rigid and heavy element it gradually becomes a light and dynamic form. The movement of the birds suggests an openness towards space, as if the material itself were freeing itself from its initial condition.
The scene is built on an essential balance between solids and voids. The dark background amplifies the contrast with the metal forms and makes the gesture of liberation even more evident.
The work thus represents the moment when a limit is broken and transformed into possibility: a visual metamorphosis in which constraint gives way to movement, freedom and change.
